Constitutional Court of South Africa

Introduction

The Constitutional Court of South Africa is the highest court in the country and is responsible for interpreting and upholding the Constitution. It is situated at Constitutional Hill Precinct in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

Composition of the Court

The court consists of 11 judges, including the Chief Justice and ten Associate Justices. The judges are appointed by the President of South Africa and must meet the following qualifications:

• Be a South African citizen.
• Have at least 15 years' experience as a judge or advocate.
• Be a person of integrity and competence.
