L-C Valley Hit by Second Consecutive Morning of Power Outages
Residents in the Lehigh Valley awoke to darkness for the second consecutive morning on Tuesday, as a major power outage impacted homes and businesses across the region.
The outage began at approximately 5:30 a.m., according to PPL Electric Utilities, and affected approximately 15,000 customers in Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton.
The cause of the outage is still under investigation, but PPL crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible.
Schools and Businesses Impacted
The power outage has impacted schools and businesses across the region.
Allentown School District and Bethlehem Area School District have both announced that schools will be closed for the day.
Many businesses in the area have also been forced to close, including shopping malls, restaurants, and offices.
Traffic Lights Out
The power outage has also caused traffic lights to go out at several intersections in the L-C Valley.
Motorists are urged to use caution when driving and to treat intersections as four-way stops.
