Ohio State Football: Locked and Loaded for a National Title Push
Preseason Rankings Place Buckeyes at No. 1
The Ohio State Buckeyes are poised to make a run at the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2023. The Buckeyes were ranked No. 1 in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 poll, released on Aug. 14.
Loaded Roster Boasts Experienced Talent
Ohio State returns a wealth of talent from last year's team, which finished 11-2 and won the Rose Bowl. The Buckeyes have 10 returning starters on offense, including quarterback C.J. Stroud, running back TreVeyon Henderson, and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
The defense also returns several key players, including All-American linebacker Tommy Eichenberg and cornerback Denzel Burke.
Favorable Schedule Sets Up Buckeyes for Success
Ohio State's schedule is relatively favorable in 2023. The Buckeyes open the season with a home game against San Jose State, followed by a road game at Arkansas State.
The Buckeyes' toughest games come in the middle of the season, when they face Michigan State, Penn State, and Michigan. However, Ohio State has a bye week before each of those games, which should give them a chance to rest and prepare.
Buckeyes Have a Shot at the Title
Ohio State has all the ingredients necessary to win a national championship in 2023. They have a talented roster, a favorable schedule, and a coaching staff led by Ryan Day, who has a proven track record of success.
If the Buckeyes can stay healthy and play to their potential, they have a good chance of making a run at the College Football Playoff National Championship.
